Some wall sconces look like they just came from the runway of a fashion show. This one reminds me of a pleated skirt. See how the light shines on the wall and creates a layer of additional pattern on it. This is a good thing to keep ain mind when selecting a fixture: what pattern it will create.

Typically, High Point Market is known as the largest home furnishings show, and the Dallas Lighting Market and Lightovation are the largest lighting shows in the US. But there are quiet a bit of manufacturers of light fixtures represented at High Point Market.

When you think about lighting in your home, it's good to have a solid plan. It will enhance the look of all finishes, textiles and colors, and it can create different moods for various activities.

A wall sconce is one element that not only adds a visual interest to the space, but also adds more light and drama. In some instances, it is a space saver as well. For instance, wall sconces can save surface space when installed above your nightstands.

Here are some of the wall sconces that stood out to me at the latest High Point Market.

What a pearl! This is certainly a conversation starter: its shape evokes an oyster, and its gold foil and black paint finishes make it look like a piece of jewelry. The opaque bulb casts a soft glow.

While those light fixtures are technically vanity lights, they can be used as sconces as well. Think of big walls with oversized artwork that could be flanked by those fixtures. The fixture in white features a metal brass base with shades made from alabaster.

The light on the grey wall is an upscale version of an industrial style fixture, and the one on the white wall will look great in a modern space.

I love how the design of this sconce reminds me of the sun! I can see using several of them to create a wall sculpture – which would be a great showstopper for any space.

The clean lines of this wall sconce make it a great choice for many settings – modern or updated traditional. Stacked marble beads bring a classic touch to the fixture’s look. It's so elegant!

This wall sconce was my favorite. Just like the first one in this lineup, it reminds me of a garment: a pretty skirt or an organza dress. Glass rods, aged brass and opal matte globes form a statement piece for sure!

That's it for today. I'm guilty as charged that I get carried away at the Market while taking it all in. I forget to take more inspirational photos when walking through the showrooms! Note to self: I need to get better at it.

I hope this small curated collection of wall sconces can inspire you to incorporate this great design  element into your home interiors.

And as always, let us know if we can help you to design something fabulous!
