Designing for smaller spaces, like this contemporary townhouse, presents unique challenges where every element must not only fit perfectly but also deliver full functionality. Every piece chosen for this home serves a dual purpose—bringing beauty and practicality to the forefront.
The living space features a few standout pieces, including a custom navy leather sectional, proudly made in North Carolina, paired with a sleek glass-top Noguchi table. A floating media console complements the space, while the clients’ Herman Miller dining table and Eames molded side chairs enhance the dining area with a timeless yet modern touch.
One of the more creative solutions was transforming a blank-canvas wall into a fully functional coffee bar and cocktail lounge. Our clients had expressed a desire to utilize the empty nook, needing space for both a wine bar and their coffee machine. Simply adding a standalone piece of furniture wouldn’t have maximized the potential of the area. Instead, we suggested integrating built-ins to seamlessly connect with the dining table and kitchen area. The result? A beautifully curved cabinetry design that enhances the space around the dining table, offering designated storage for every item—modern, clean, and effortlessly functional.
For the entryway, we created a space that is both easy on the eyes and fully functional, featuring a full-size mirror, custom folding wood coat hooks, and two floating shelves for decorative items and a convenient key drop-off zone.
This project highlights how thoughtful design can make the most of every corner. From custom furniture to integrated built-ins, we ensured that each space serves our clients' daily needs while maintaining a clean, contemporary aesthetic.
